With the development of the cultural economy and the advent of the internet information era, middle school students are facing various temptations and distractions. When faced with temptations beyond learning, some students can consciously resist the temptation and choose to continue to complete academic tasks. This ability to give up immediate rewards to achieve long-term learning goals is known as Academic Delay in Gratification.Academic Delay of Gratification is an indispensable self-control ability of individuals in the process of completing their studies, which has an extremely important impact on their academic achievements. It can be seen that how to correctly guide middle school students to make a reasonable choice between learning and various interfering factors is the focus of educators.Focusing on the future results brought about by current behavior is the primary feature of Future Time Perspective, while focusing on future results happens to be an important manifestation of the ability to delay gratification. Therefore,it is necessary to explore the relationship between the two.Academic Self-Efficacy and Self-Control can not only affect students’ academic performance, but also significantly affect their academic delay in satisfaction. To sum up,this study introduces two more variables,Academic Self-Efficacy and Trait Self-Control,and intends to explore the influence mechanism and relationship model of the four in depth, after which the interview method is used to further validate this relationship model. This research is divided into two parts.Research 1 adopted the psychological test method to test 850 junior middle school students in a junior middle school in Henan Province by using the Youth Future Time Perspective Scale, the Academic Self Efficacy Scale, the Middle School Students Self Control Scale, and the Academic Delay Gratification Scale.SPSS25.0 and PROCESS plug-in are used to statistically analyze and test the data. The second study used the interview method to interview 41 junior high school students on the basis of the relationship model obtained in the first study, and used Nvivo11.0 software to analyze the interview data. Finally, the following conclusions are drawn:1.Junior high school students’ Future Time Perspective,Academic Self-Efficacy,Trait Self-Control and Academic Delay of Gratification have significant differences in demographic variables(gender, grade, place of origin).2.Future Time Perspective,Academic Self-Efficacy,Trait Self-Control and Academic Delay of Gratification are significantly positively correlated.3.Future Time Perspective can positively predict Academic Delay of Gratification.4.Academic Self-Efficacy and Trait Self-Control play a chain mediating role between Future Time Perspective and Academic Delay of Gratification.
