| As an important research field in social psychology, the improvement of doctorpatient trust has a positive impact on the establishment of a good doctor-patient relationship.Studies have shown that the application of refutation texts can effectively reduce the cognitive bias and behavioral gap between doctors and patients, and thus improve the doctor-patient relationship. However, there are still several defects in the current research:(1)It is not clear whether the refutation text form is better than the common popular science form;(2)Previous studies have not proved whether the refutation text improves the patient’s trust in medical ethics or medical skills in the process of improving the patient’s trust;(3)Few studies have explored the impact of the content of the refutation text related to the illness on the patient’s trust;(4)The mediation mechanism of refutation text to enhance the trust of the patient remains to be discussed;(5)Most of the previous studies took college students as research objects and lacked ecological validity.Based on the lack of existing studies, this study intends to explore the role of refutation texts and non-refutation texts in the information gap between doctors and patients, and clarify the impact of refutation texts on patients’ trust. The patient trust is subdivided into medical ethics trust and medical technology trust to explore the impact of refutation texts on improving patient trust.Better forms of refutation texts are clarified by comparing text content related to and unrelated to the disease;Based on the influence factor of perceived information asymmetry, this paper explores the intermediary mechanism of refutation texts to enhance the trust of the patient. At the same time, this study examines the effect of refutation text on patient trust in real doctor-patient situations. In experiment 1,a single-factor(refutation texts: refutation text vs non-refutation text vs no text)experiment was designed between subjects, and the dependent variable was the trust level of the subjects. In this experiment,176 college students with medical experience in the last 3-6 months were selected as the research objects, and the refutation text paradigm was adopted to explore the influence of text form on patients’ trust ethics trust +technology trust). The results showed that:(1)In terms of patient trust and medical ethics trust, the trust level of the refutation text group was significantly higher than that of the non-refutation text group, and the trust level of the refutation text group was significantly higher than that of the non-refutation text group.(2)In terms of trust in medical technology, the trust level of the refutation text group was significantly higher than that of the non-refutation text group, but there was no significant difference between the refutation text group and the non-refutation text group. In experiment 2,2(refutation text: refutation text group vs.non-refutation texts group)×2(text content: disease-related vs disease-unrelated)was used as an experimental design between subjects.A total of 133 college students with medical experience in the past 3-6months were recruited as research objects in this experiment.refutation text task was adopted to explore whether text content would affect patient trust based on text form.In addition, this study takes perceived information asymmetry as a mediator variable to test the mediation model. The results showed that:(1)the main effect of text content on patient trust, medical ethics trust and medical technology trust was significant;(2)The main effects of text form on patient trust, medical ethics trust and medical technology trust were significant;(3)There is no interaction between text content and text form;(4)The results of mediating analysis showed that perceived information asymmetry played a complete mediating role between text form and patient trust in the condition related to illness. In order to further test the application value and authenticity of the experimental results in real situations,in experiment 3,the subjects in experiment 2 were replaced with patients in hospitals. The patient’s trust was tested first, the refutation text task was adopted, and the patient’s trust was tested after the consultation.A total of 97 patients in the outpatient department of the hospital were recruited as study subjects. The results are consistent with study 2.Based on the experimental results, the following three conclusions are drawn:(1)Refutation text can effectively promote trust in medical ethics, medical skills and patients.(2)Text content affects the enhancement effect of text form on the patient’s trust.(3)In the condition related to the disease, refutation text enhances the trust of the patient through the perceived information asymmetry. The results of this study provide references for the promotion and application of refutation texts in hospitals, provide new ideas for improving patient trust and promoting the sustainable development of doctor-patient relationship through the application of refutation texts. |
