Research On Book Form Design And Innovation

Traditional Chinese book binding is highly representative among traditional Chinese creations,and like porcelain,architecture,and clothing in China,it can represent the style and form of Chinese tradition.Since the popularization of engraving technology in the Tang and Song dynasties,the form of books in China has been based on paper and printing,which to some extent provides a paradigm for book design that can be followed.For example,the book design terms used by designers,such as letter sets,four seals,ring linings,sky heads,feet,sewing lines,and format,have long been a consensus formed under this paradigm.However,in the past two decades,digital technology has overturned the publishing industry,and the limitations of traditional paper books have gradually been highlighted.Paper and printing are no longer the only material basis for books,and the sales of paper books are gradually decreasing.The publishing industry is facing huge changes and challenges,and the traditional form of books is facing the development problem of where to go.In this context,innovation in book form design has become even more important.The paper comprehensively utilizes methods such as literature research,case analysis,and interdisciplinary research to explore and research.By analyzing the evolution of Chinese and Western book forms,summarize the important factors that affect the development of book forms.Firstly,summarize the concept of book binding form,and based on some cases,propose the factors that affect the development of book form and the principles that book form innovation should follow;Secondly,innovative research was conducted on the main components of book form,exploring the innovation of the internal and external structures of books,emphasizing the overall consciousness in book form design;Finally,an in-depth analysis was conducted on the main components of the book,such as the cover,spine,and layout.Drawing on previous research experience,the design methods such as rhythm and blank space were explored to better explain how to innovate in book form design.In the current digital age,the innovation and design of book forms have become particularly important.The significance of this study lies in providing some ideas and methods for book design practice,thereby promoting the diversified development of book forms,and at the same time,providing readers with a more high-quality and diverse reading experience.
