| Since the twenty-first century, people have entered the era of Industry 4.0,which is the era of using information technology to facilitate industrial changes. The continuous development of real-time speech recognition technology has brought opportunities and challenges for interpreters.Currently, there are few studies in the related field, among which few studies focus on figurative numbers. In this study, the author focuses on the impact of real-time speech recognition tools on the numerical accuracy of Chinese-English simultaneous interpreting by using IFLYTEK.For this purpose, the author selects the speech of Liu Dianxun,Director of the Bureau of Investment Promotion of the Ministry of Commerce, and the excerpts from the video lesson of the fifth-grade Chinese class, and invites eight student interpreters of a class of 2021 in the Chinese and English conference interpretation program of the Graduate School of Translation and Interpretation of Beijing Foreign Studies University to experiment. The eight student interpreters are equally divided into an experimental group(with the real-time speech recognition tool)and a control group(without the real-time speech recognition tool). After the interpretation, the author invites eight professional interpreters to rate the performance of the subjects. The experimental results show that the IFLYTEK helps to improve the accuracy of Chinese-English numerical simultaneous interpreting. However, there is a difference in the improvement impact for actual numbers and figurative numbers. The improvement in the accuracy of actual numbers is much greater than that of figurative numbers. When facing figurative numbers with richer cultural connotations, the realtime speech recognition tool does not significantly help interpreters. In conclusion, the impact of IFLYTEK on Chinese-English numerical simultaneous interpreting is positive. |
