Clinical Observation Of Scalp Acupuncture Combined With Masssge In The Treatment Of Upper Limb Spasm After Stroke

Objective:On the basis of exercise therapy,by observing the clinical efficacy of scalp acupuncture combined with massage therapy in improving muscle tension,motor function and activities of daily life of patients with upper limb spasm after stroke,to explore the effectiveness of scalp acupuncture combined with massage therapy in the treatment of upper limb spasm after stroke,so as to provide an effective method for clinical treatment.Methods:Sixty patients with upper limb spasm after stroke were collected from the rehabilitation clinic and ward of the second affiliated Hospital of Heilongjiang University of traditional Chinese Medicine.The patients were randomly divided into two groups with 30 patients in each group.Patients in both groups received basic treatment.The control group received exercise therapy and the treatment group added exercise therapy combined with scalp acupuncture and massage therapy on the basis of the control group.The patients in the two groups were treated once a day,5 times a week for 4 weeks.Before and after treatment,the modified Ashworth scale(MAS)and the root mean square(RMS)of surface electromyography(s EMG)were used to evaluate the changes of muscle tension of biceps brachii.The upper limb Fugl-Meyer scale(FMA)was used to evaluate their motor function,and the modified Barthel index(MBI)was used to evaluate their activities of daily living.Results:(1)MAS : there was no significant difference between the two groups before treatment(P>0.05).Compared with that before treatment,the Ashworth score in the treatment group decreased,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment,there was difference between the two groups(P< 0.05).(2)s EMG: there was no significant difference between the two groups before treatment(P>0.05).Compared with those before treatment,the RMS score of biceps brachii decreased,the RMS score of brachii increased significantly after treatment(P<0.05).After treatment,there was significant difference between the treatment group and the control group(P<0.05).(3)FMA: there was no significant difference between the two groups before treatment(P>0.05).Compared with those before treatment,Fugl-Meyer scores increased after treatment,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment,there was significant difference between the treatment group and the control group(P< 0.05).(4)BMI: there was no significant difference between the two groups before treatment(P>0.05).Compared with those before treatment,BMI scores increased after treatment,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment,there was significant difference between the treatment group and the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:On the basis of exercise therapy,scalp acupuncture combined with massage therapy all can reduce the degree of upper limb spasm,improve motor function and improve activities of daily life after stroke,and the curative effect is better than that of simple exercise therapy.
