| In the process of rapid urban development, different stages of urban renewal have highlighted the unique imprint of the times. While absorbing Western renewal forms,China’s urban renewal has gradually changed from incremental development to stock renewal in combination with its own regional and cultural background, realizing the dual cycle of urban renewal and moving towards a multi-dimensional model of resilience, green and humanities.Urban renewal and development is a necessary way to activate and enhance urban ecology, make up for the lack of urban infrastructure, and improve and strengthen urban functions. In this context, through the research on urban renewal and the importance of waterfront landscape in the city, and taking the South Canal Leisure and Cultural Square as the starting point of design research,in order to explore the design and research methods of the South Canal Cultural Square, this paper first sorts out the relevant theories of urban renewal and waterfront landscape, combines excellent urban renewal cases at home and abroad, summarizes and analyzes that waterfront landscape should start from the aspects of natural ecology and human environment in urban renewal, and should start from the canal culture in this renewal design. In particular, the absorption of intangible cultural heritage summarizes the characteristics of Tianjin’s heritage inheritance of the canal, and then implants it in the renewal design of the site.Secondly, the site was investigated several times to summarize the problems and improvement goals of the site itself. The design has always been implemented around the theory and successful case experience of urban renewal and waterfront landscape. Finally, according to the site-based design research,a perfect design scheme is formed, including functional area, road traffic,three-dimensional height difference, and shaping of water-friendly space,so as to realize the waterfront landscape with practical value. In summary, according to this research and design step, the design of the South Canal Leisure and Cultural Plaza is improved, and the planning and design practice of high livability is advanced, which provides reference for the long-standing Tianjin Canal culture and similar waterfront landscapes. |
