Research On The Impact Of Intellectual Property Protection On The Export Technology Complexity Of China’s Transportation Equipment Manufacturing Industry

With the in-depth development of economic globalization,intellectual property protection has increasingly become the cornerstone of creating a good environment to enhance national competitiveness.As the basic industry of the national economy,the transportation equipment manufacturing industry belongs to the technology and capital-intensive industry and has high regional agglomeration.This paper takes knowledge as an important production factor and intellectual property protection as a core explanatory variable into the research and analysis,and discusses the impact and mechanism of intellectual property protection on the export technical complexity of China’s transportation equipment manufacturing industry.This is of great significance for the improvement of intellectual property protection strategy,the implementation of investment policies,the emphasis on R&D investment intensity and the improvement of the export technology complexity of transportation equipment manufacturing industry,which can provide a certain reference for the development of China’s transportation equipment manufacturing industry.Based on the provincial panel data of the transportation equipment manufacturing industry from 2002 to 2020,this paper comprehensively measures the actual intellectual property protection level of each province and city by the national legislative GP index and the actual enforcement intensity of provincial intellectual property rights.Based on economic theory and the combing of existing literature,this paper first uses the utest command to test the relationship between intellectual property protection and export technology complexity,and the results show that there is a positive "U" relationship between the two.On this basis,a two-way fixed-effect model is constructed,and the whole sample is divided into eastern regions and central and western regions according to the level of economic and social development for group regression,and whether regional heterogeneity affects the effect of intellectual property protection on export technology complexity.In addition,this paper analyzes the mechanism of the relationship between IP protection and export technology complexity through FDI and R&D investment intensity,and discusses the mechanism of IP protection on export technology complexity.Through empirical analysis,this paper concludes the following: first,there is a positive "U" relationship between intellectual property protection and the export technical complexity of China’s transportation equipment manufacturing industry;Second,there is heterogeneity between the eastern and central and western regions.Specifically,there is still a positive "U" shape relationship between intellectual property protection and export technology complexity in the eastern region,while there is a linear promotion relationship between intellectual property protection and export technology complexity in the central and western regions.Third,through the two mechanisms of FDI and R&D investment intensity,the role of intellectual property protection on the complexity of export technology can be positively strengthened.In view of the above research conclusions,this paper puts forward the following policy recommendations: first,to conduct risk tests for the implementation of advanced intellectual property protection;Second,implement regional differentiation strategies according to the respective conditions of each province and city;Third,establish a good business environment and improve the quality of FDI inflows;Fourth,increase the intensity of industry R&D investment to achieve innovation-driven development.
