Research On The Brick And Tile Craftsmanship Of Huizhou Traditional Residence In The Ming And Qing Dynasties

Huizhou traditional residence originated in the Song Dynasty.With unique geographical and climatic conditions,as well as extensive cultural exchanges,they have formed residential construction techniques with regional characteristics.They have a long historical heritage and cultural value,and are an indispensable component of China’s residential construction technology system.Due to the fact that the inheritance of traditional craftsmanship in Huizhou is mostly based on the oral and heartfelt teachings of craftsmen,and the practices are not recorded properly,there is a risk of loss.The impact of the modern construction system has also exacerbated this crisis.Since modern times,the lack of human resources and convenient transportation have promoted the continuous flow of craftsmen between regions,leading to confusion in the creation techniques of different regions and the fallacy of exaggeration in the repair work of cultural relics and buildings.In the face of the above problems,it is urgent to conduct a study on the dating of traditional residential techniques in Huizhou to clarify their regional characteristics and development process.This article mainly distinguishes and summarizes the brick and tile craftsmanship of Huizhou residence during the Ming and Qing dynasties based on detailed on-site research,specific interviews with traditional craftsmen,and comprehensive literature review.On the premise of mastering sufficient cultural and historical materials and measured data,explore the origin and development process of traditional brick and tile craftsmanship in Huizhou folk houses.The article first clarifies the background,purpose,and significance of the topic,as well as the current research status and methods at home and abroad.It also clarifies the main content and framework of brick and tile research.The second part conducts a systematic review of the brick and tile craftsmanship and processing techniques in Huizhou from the Warring States period to the Qing Dynasty,providing a context for the historical characteristics of Huizhou residential brick and tile craftsmanship during the Ming and Qing dynasties;The third part,based on relevant historical materials,on-site research,and artisan interviews,systematically summarizes the brick and tile craftsmanship of Huizhou residential buildings during the Ming and Qing dynasties based on the construction site and force bearing methods.The main parts are as follows: 1.Wall brick and tile craftsmanship,mainly including enclosure wall techniques,load-bearing wall techniques,and decorative techniques;2、 The roof tile work mainly includes the roof base layer,ridge technology,brick soap,and horse head wall technology;3、 Floor tiles mainly include bottom floor tiles and floor tiles;Each part is further refined to specific structures,and the construction process is supplemented through interviews with craftsmen and cultural and historical materials.On the basis of a detailed record and summary of Huizhou residential brick and tile craftsmanship during the Ming and Qing dynasties,this article will also analyze the origin and underlying factors of Huizhou residential brick and tile craftsmanship related skills,including empty bucket walls,horse head walls(matouqiang),and door covers(menzhao),in order to establish a systematic study of Huizhou residential brick and tile craftsmanship.Huizhou traditional residence are practical,beautiful,and generous,occupying an important position in the genealogy of traditional residence in China with their unique architectural style and exquisite construction techniques.This article conducts a special study on the brick and tile craftsmanship of Huizhou residence during the Ming and Qing dynasties,which is of great significance for the improvement of the research system for the construction techniques of Huizhou traditional residence and even traditional residence in the southern region,the solution to the problem of the loss of traditional residence construction techniques,and the protection and repair of cultural relics and buildings.Figure [83] table [13] reference [93]...
