| In the new development pattern of internal circulation as the mainstay,as a basic industry of national economy, civil passenger transportation industry must play a better strategic supporting role, while the development of civil air transportation will be more dependent on the domestic market and usher in a new development pattern. With the upgrading of China’s industrial structure and the optimization of industrial layout, the influence of industrial structure on the development of civil aviation passenger is becoming more and more prominent.Existing studies mainly use input-output method, principal component analysis and regression analysis to study the relationship between economic factors including industrial structure and the development of civil aviation passenger transportation, but most of the studies have coarse data granularity and low timeliness, while more attention is focused on the economic development. This paper combines qualitative analysis,input-output analysis and focuses on regression analysis of panel data for 154 Chinese prefecture-level cities over a 16-year period from 2005-2019 to investigate the mechanism of the influence of industrial structure on civil aviation passenger transportation, the extent of the influence and its prevalence. This paper firstly conducts a qualitative analysis of the mechanism by which industrial structure affects civil air passenger transportation, and concludes that industrial structure affects the development of civil air passenger transportation in terms of both market demand and supply inputs;secondly,by interpreting the national input-output table in 2020,the distribution coefficients of air passenger transportation in each industry are calculated to further support the correlation between the two;afterwards, using civil air passenger throughput to represent civil air passenger transportation, and the share of tertiary industry in GDP to represent the industrial structure,a two-way fixed-effects model regression was conducted, while control variables such as the level of economic development, urban population size, and high-speed rail competition were introduced. The heterogeneity of the model was discussed by grouping regressions according to regional and economic development levels, respectively, and the empirical study found that the share of tertiary industry in GDP has a significant positive effect on civil aviation passenger throughput. This study shows that the upgrading of industrial structure has a significant promotion effect on the development of civil aviation passenger transportation, and this promotion effect is universal, and the promotion effect is better in regions with higher level of economic development. The planning departments of civil passenger transport enterprises and all civil aviation related departments should fully consider industrial structure factors and pay attention to national industrial structure policies when planning airports and capacity in order to better match market demand. |
