| Aesthetic standards will change with social development and cultural differences.In modern China,slenderness became a prominent feature of idealized feminine beauty,women no longer dress by highlighting their breasts to emphasize their feminine features,and a full and plump chest is no longer a common pursuit.The aesthetics of breasts have changed for many young women in China,and many women with large breasts believe that larger breasts will affect their appearance and make them look stout,thus wanting their breasts to look smaller and flatter.So,the aesthetic trend of "making large breasts smaller" is gradually becoming popular among the group of large-breasted women in China,and minimizer bra has also become a major emerging consumer demand in the lingerie market.However,as a newly developed shaping bra,how to quantify and evaluate its shaping effect?What changes in the shape of the breasts can make the overall breasts visually smaller?How do the design elements of a bra affect its shaping effect?To solve the above questions,this paper will use Imageware reverse engineering software to derive breast-related measurements when subjects wear the minimizer bras,then combined with a subjective evaluation experiment,the influence of breast shape characteristics on the visual breast size reduction effect was analyzed.The correlation analysis was carried out between the breast shape characteristics,which are significantly related to the subjective evaluation of bra wearing effect,and the bra design elements;and a heat map of the deformation of breast shape when wearing different bras was constructed to comprehensively analyze the influence of bra design elements on the shaping effect of minimizer bras.To analyze breast shape characteristics that affect the visual perception of breast size,this research first conducted subjective evaluation experiments,in which the assessors made subjective evaluations of the wearing effect of each experimental bra,and after regression analysis of the evaluation data,the results showed that the depth of the breast and the lengthways width of the breast can significantly affect people’s visual judgment of the breasts size,while the overall height of the breast compared to the torso and the transverse width of the breast cannot significantly affect people’s subjective perception of the breast size.Meanwhile,in this study,18 breast shape characteristics were measured in 3D body scanning experiments by using reverse engineering software.One-way ANOVA was used to retain the breast structures that differed significantly when wearing different bras.A correlation analysis was carried out between the objective breast shape measurements and the subjective evaluation results.Then based on the regression analysis and correlation analysis mentioned above,this paper summarized nine breast morphological features that can significantly affect people’s subjective judgment of breast size,and three main breasts shape factors were obtained by dimensionality reduction through data analysis:S1 bust point distance,S4 breasts base angle,S8 inner breast width,S9 outer breast width and S18 outer breast slope consisting of breast lateral gathering factor F1;breast thickness factor F2 consisting of S3 full bust girth,S5 breast depth and S17 outer breast curvature;and breast height factor F3 containing S2 breast point height.To further determine bra design parameters that affect the shaping effect of minimizer bras,this study quantified the bra design into 20 parameters and correlated them with breasts shape characteristics,and concluded that gore height,upper cup height,side panel width as well as the distance between gore and hook are the four main structural parameters affecting the shaping effect of this type of bra,and crosswise tensile modulus of cup is the main material parameter affecting the shaping effect.In addition,this study constructed heat maps by matching the three-dimensional data of breasts while wearing the experimental bra and the comparison bra to visualize the breasts’ deformation.According to the analysis of the heat maps,it was summarized that minimizer bra has better wrapping and supporting performance with a higher gore,a wider underband,a wider side panel and stronger crosswise tensile modulus of cup,and it could provide a compression force on the breast from the periphery to the center and toward the torso,which can not only had a better compressing effect on the breasts but also prevent breasts expanding to the sides.Through in-depth research,this paper concluded 9 breasts shape characteristics affecting the visual reduction effect of breasts,as well as the bra design parameters that can affect the shaping effect of minimizer bras,and proposed some optimized design suggestions to help lingerie manufacturers better understand how the bra design parameters can influence the shaping effect,and meet the needs of large breasts women for breast shaping. |
