| With the rapid development of society, environmental issues have become increasingly severe.Human civilization has gradually shifted its focus to ecological concerns, aiming for the sustainable development of Earth’s resources and the improvement of people’s living environments.Environmental protection has emerged as a focal point of public attention.Since the 20 th century, waste sorting has been recognized as an effective approach to resource recovery and recycling, with its origins dating back to Germany in 1904.In recent years,China has incorporated waste sorting as a basic national policy for the classification, collection, and treatment of domestic waste, which not only enhances the resource and economic value of waste but also produces positive impacts on society, the economy, and the ecological environment. However,China faces numerous challenges in implementing waste sorting, such as a large population base, vast territory, uneven education levels, and a relatively late start in waste sorting initiatives.Additionally, the country lacks comprehensive legal frameworks and well-equipped facilities, and public awareness of waste sorting remains weak.To address these challenges,China has carried out top-down waste sorting popularization, promotion, and education activities.Currently, waste sorting education for children has been widely implemented in primary schools and kindergartens, cultivating waste sorting and environmental awareness in children through various activities and further promoting nationwide participation in waste sorting. This study reviews and analyzes the literature on waste sorting education for children in recent years, exploring the characteristics of children’s physical, psychological, and cognitive development from a multimodal perspective, and investigates various teaching methods for information extraction and transformation in multimodal interactive behaviors.Based on service design thinking,a multimodal waste sorting education environment for children is constructed, and a children’s waste sorting education service model based on multimodal interaction is proposed.By leveraging the synergistic effects of service touchpoints such as multimodal interactive pop-up books, children’s waste sorting collection bins, cardboard waste bins, electromagnetic waste cards, and classification speaker boxes,an immersive interactive learning experience tailored to the characteristics of children is created. The development of children is crucial to the future of society. This research aims to improve children’s knowledge reserves and proactivity in waste sorting behaviors, viewing children’s waste sorting education as a process of cultivating ecological awareness and social responsibility.Through this educational model,we hope that children can actively learn and practice waste sorting in their daily lives, advocate for others to participate, and ultimately contribute to the well-being of society. |
