Bamboo Seat Design Using Tujia Brocade Hook Pattern

Tujia brocade,the traditional handmade brocade of Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture of Hunan Province,is one of the national intangible cultural heritage.The process of tujia brocade is complicated.In weaving,it is made by 12 processes,such as spinning twisting thread,dyeing,rewinding thread,pulling thread,reaming reed,rolling thread,picking up the comprehensive,turning pole,picking up flower,tying rod,weaving and picking up the fabric.The analysis of the overall composition of the Tujia brocade pattern shows that all the traditional brocade patterns are arranged and combined according to the three basic elements of point,line and surface,and are in a rigorous symmetrical form.Usually with diamond,square and other geometric figures as the basic frame,and in different units filled with the corresponding symmetrical form of pattern.The pattern in the middle of the brocade has three parts:the main flower,the secondary flower and the side flower.There is no fixed composition element.The main flower can be filled as the secondary flower after its shape changes and size changes,and the side flower can also be used as the main flower after its enlarged size.The tujia brocade in western Hunan is thick and gorgeous in color.It is good at romance and freedom,which can best reflect the aesthetics of tujia people.Dyeing agents for the threads of traditional Tujia brocade come from nature.The roots and stems or flowers and leaves of some plants are heated and boiled to make dyeing agents,such as indigo extracted from cultivated bluegrass,Chinese grass juice dyed red,and horsemulberry leaves dyed black.Tujia brocade is mainly divided into natural categories,including:animals,birds and beasts,plants and flowers,heaven and earth;Social and cultural categories include:folk style category,living materials category;Geometric characters:such as single eight hook,twelve hook,twenty-four hook,forty-eight hook and so on.In this paper,the main use of single eight hook lines,box eight hook lines,24 hook lines,48 hook lines for design practice.Bamboo sofa,bamboo leisure chair and bamboo low stool were designed by separating pattern,stretching pattern,reconstructing pattern and repeating pattern.Bamboo is chosen as the seat design material for its ductility,plasticity,nature and environmental protection.The texture and color of bamboo itself can no longer be decorated with color.Because of the characteristics of geometric patterns in tujia brocade,the use of hook lines is mainly in the functional structure of bamboo seat design,in the form of design as a supplement.This research is mainly to provide reference for the design of tujia brocade pattern on bamboo seat,through the functional structure and form of bamboo seat design to meet the needs of different groups of people to use bamboo seat,to provide people with better leisure seat.
