| Agriculture plays an important role in the overall economic and social development of the western region and the overall agricultural development of China.Since entering the new century, the agricultural development in the western region has made historic achievements, the prospects for rural development are broader, and the living standards of farmers are significantly improved, which has laid a solid foundation for promoting agricultural modernization and common prosperity of farmers and rural areas. However, the agricultural development in the western region still faces such prominent problems as the mismatch of water and soil resources, the limited ecological carrying capacity, and the lag of agricultural infrastructure construction. There are still many difficulties and challenges in achieving high-quality agricultural development and stable income increase of farmers. In order to explore the path of high-quality agricultural development, this paper calculates and analyzes the total factor productivity(TFP)of agriculture in 12 provinces from 2002 to 2020,and tests the convergence of agricultural TFP in the western region to examine the spatial differences of agricultural TFP,and then the influencing factors of agricultural TFP in the western region were deeply explored. At last, according to the research conclusion, the countermeasures and suggestions to promote the high-quality development of agriculture are put forward. This paper first expounds the research trends at home and abroad from three aspects of total factor productivity, agricultural TFP measurement and influencing factors, points out the shortcomings of current research, and clarifies the breakthrough direction and research focus of this study.Secondly, based on the systematic analysis of the theory of economic growth and agricultural development, the current situation and changing trend of agricultural production in the western region, combined with the current situation of agricultural development in the western region, the agricultural input-output index system in the western region is constructed, and the agricultural TFP values in the western regions are calculated using the DEA-Malmquist index method, and the spatial-temporal evolution analysis is carried out,and then the convergence test method is used to analyze the regional spatial differences from different angles. Finally, combined with relevant literature science, ten influencing factors were selected, and the grey correlation analysis method was used to calculate the correlation degree between each influencing factor and agricultural TFP in the western region. The empirical results show that: first, the overall agricultural TFP in the western region shows a growth trend, and the growth of agricultural TFP mainly benefits from agricultural technological progress. The average annual growth rate of pure technological efficiency is higher than the scale efficiency. The average annual growth rate of agricultural TFP in the 12 provinces is positive, and the growth rate gap is large, among which, the gap of technological progress growth rate is small, and the difference of technological efficiency is obvious;Second, there is no σ convergence in the agricultural TFP in the western region, but there is significant absolute β convergence and conditionalβ convergence. The overall agricultural TFP development gap will gradually narrow, and the agricultural TFP growth in each region can converge to different stable levels.Third, the degree of correlation between the various influencing factors and the agricultural TFP in the western region, from large to small,is the level of urbanization, the scale of agricultural operation, the level of industrialization, the human capital, the quality of cultivated land, the proportion of non-agricultural income, the financial support for agriculture, the agricultural planting structure, the level of opening up,the disaster rate. The correlation between agricultural TFP and its influencing factors is significantly different in different regions and stages.Based on the above conclusions, this paper puts forward countermeasures and suggestions from the quality of production factors,innovation-driven development, agricultural support and protection, etc. |
