Objective:To examine the effectiveness of split squat and squat to enhance lower-limb Athletic ability for athletes based on theories of blood flow restriction(BFR,KAATSU training)and bilateral force deficit(BFD).Methods:Participants comprised of 32 student athletes((squat 1-RM/weight)>1.5,without severe lower limb injury within a half year)from Beijing Sports University, and were divided into 4 groups:split squat group, squat group, split squat with BFR group, squat with BFR group(inflation at 180 mmHg).Training intensity was set at 30%of 1-RM(BFR)or 75%of 1-RM(not-BFR).Performance in sprinting(40m),standing jumping, and counter movement jump(CMJ)in both pretest and post-test was collected and analyzed using SPSS 23.0.Results:There was no significant difference in standing jumping performance between pre-test and post-test(p=0.053),whereas the duration of 40-m-sprinting(pre-test:5.327±0.194,post-test:5.171±0.163,p=0.01)shortened.The changes of max-power/weight(pre-test:21.88±6.59,post-test:38.76±5.45,p=0.00),off-time(pre-test:0.348±0.109,post-test:0.618±0.071,p=0.00),and height/weight(pre-test:0.0023±0.0019,post-test:0.0065±0.0015,p=0.00)in CMJ were all positive for atheltes. There was no significant difference between the enhancement of BFR group and non-BFR group after intervention. The changes of all variables, except for 10-msprinting,in split squat group were bigger than that in squat group. The maxpower/weight of split squat group was significantly smaller than that of squat group(p=0.00).Conclusion:The results revealed that the KAATSU training can be an alternative method for injuried atheltes to maintain and enhance their physical condition.Split squat is an more effective way to enhance lower-limb performance in comparison with squat.
