With the development of Internet technology,online courses as a new learning pattern are more and more popular.Massive Open Online Course(MOOC)platforms are offered by many famous universities abroad which can broaden the international horizons of Chinese audience.However,due to the limitations of cultural background knowledge and language ability,Chinese students are unable to understand the teaching content very well.This thesis is a practice report on the English-Chinese consecutive interpretation of American Revolution,an online lecture in Yale University.The writer makes an analysis of the problems in the practice of interpreting,including the unclear meaning of the target language,the translationese and the translation redundancy.The writer uses a variety of translation methods to solve the above problems.In order to solve the problem of unclear meaning in target language,the methods adopted by the writer are explication and amplification.To solve the problem of translationese,the writer adopts two methods: free translation and reconstruction.To solve the problem of translation redundancy,the writer adopts ellipsis and induction.It is hoped that this practice report can provide some experience and reference for fellow interpreters to improve their output quality of the consecutive interpretation of open lectures online.
