Political Economy Analysis Of The Overtime Work

Overtime work is an important problem in Chinese society and one of the important components of the conflict between labor and capital.How to analyze the causes of overtime work in theory and find the countermeasures is an important task for the academia and the government.From the perspective of political economy,this paper makes a revealing discussion on the root and formation mechanism of overtime labor problem and tries to make some contributions to the effective solution of overtime labor problem in China.The work of this paper consists of three parts.The first part sorts out Marx’s thought of working day,and constructs a "working day struggle model" based on this thought,analyzes the history of the struggle of the British working class for the normal working day with this model,and verifies the applicability of the "working day struggle model".The second part describes the current situation of overtime work in China,analyzes the interest orientation and behavior logic among workers,employers and government in labor relations,and depicts the game curve between migrant workers and Internet knowledge workers based on the reality.In the third part,the working day struggle model is modified into "working time game model" based on China’s reality,and the reason of overtime problem in China is revealed with this model,and then the corresponding policy suggestions are put forward.
