Happiness is one of the ultimate values that most people pursue.As China’s economy grows steadily,living standards and residents’ incomes continue to increase,so should the sense of well-being.However,many research conclusions show that the“Eastlin Paradox” of Chinese residents ’well-being appears.Employment is the foundation of people’s livelihood,and the core issue that the government has always been concerned about is employment.With the expansion of the economy,enterprises are gradually increasing the demand for laborers.The labor market in China has improved significantly in terms of employment,but the quality of laborers ’employment has shown a downward trend.Phenomenon occurs frequently,which seriously affects people’s happiness experience.Based on this background,the research in this paper explores the correlation between employment quality and subjective well-being,and provides some feasible suggestions for improving employment quality and subjective well-being.Based on the review of relevant literature and the analysis of the current status of employment quality,this article uses the China Labor Force Dynamic Tracking Survey Data(CLDS2014,2016)and uses an ordered probability model to study the impact of employment quality on well-being.First,based on the existing literature and the ILO’s definition of employment quality,this paper builds an evaluation system of employment quality indicators: the employment quality indicator system contains 4one-dimensional indicators and 13 two-dimensional indicators,which can reflect the individual’s Employment quality.Secondly,this article uses the objective assignment method: the principal component analysis method assigns values to various indicators of employment quality,thereby measuring the individual employment quality index.Finally,this article uses the employment quality index as an independent variable to study its impact on subjective well-being.The conclusions are as follows:(1)The quality of employment has a significant influence on subjective well-being.That is to control other variables,the higher the quality of employment,the stronger the happiness of workers.(2)There are differences in the impact of various dimensions of employment quality on happiness.Satisfaction,social security and labor relations index have a significant effect on subjective well-being,and working condition index has no significant effect on subjective well-being.This may be due to the fact that the dimension of working conditions includes overtime and the negative dimension of weekly working hours,which will offset the positive effects of labor compensation and fixed workplace on subjective well-being.(3)The impact of various dimensions of employment quality on subjective well-being varies with household registration,job nature,and academic qualifications.Finally,based on the results of empirical analysis,combined with the current social development in China,this paper proposes specific countermeasures and suggestions from three aspects: government,enterprise and individual.
