As one of the common problem behaviors of children with autism, emotional problem behavior not only hinders their own development, but also brings negative effects to the peers’ learning and the teachers’ teaching. Therefore,it is of great significance to intervene the emotional problems of children with autism. In the practical intervention, simply adopting the behavior problem treatment strategies such as isolation, punishment and regression often produce a series of negative effects. The related research has confirmed that the intervention based on functional assessment is an effective intervention model to children with autism, which not only improve their problem behavior, but also promote their positive behavior development. This study will explore the function of emotional problem behavior of children with autism, and make corresponding intervention plan based on behavioral function to explore the improvement of emotional problem behavior. The researcher selected three children with autism with severe emotional problems who were enrolled in a society-adaptation school through a certain procedure. Two functional assessment methods,Indirect Assessment and Direct Observation, were used to evaluate the emotional problem behaviors of three subjects, and then the function of their emotional problem behaviors was obtained. Then, according to the evaluation results, the intervention plans were formulated and implemented, and the strategies of antecedent control, behavioral teaching, and consequence processing were flexibly applied. The data collected during the intervention were analyzed to understand the influence of intervention strategies based on the results of Functional Behavior Assessment on emotional behaviors in children with autism. The results showed that the frequency of emotional problems was reduced significantly by the intervention.Based on the result and discussion, the researcher puts forward the existing problems and improving countermeasures in this study, which will provide reference for the future teaching and related research. The main conclusions of this study are as follows:(1)Functional Behavior Assessment can determine the function of emotional problem behaviors accurately in children with autism;(2)The intervention program based on functional assessment can effectively improve theemotional problem behavior in children with autism;(3)The intervention based on functional assessment has good social validity.
