| The applicability of the foregrounding theory to translation has continuingly been mentioned by translation scholars since the 21 st century.The theory has been considered feasible in guiding translation practice.However,as a device to evaluate the source text and the target translation,it is still immature as a guiding theory for translation in general.Novel translation,an indispensable part of literary translation,is important in spreading mass culture and improving public aesthetic experience.This article intends to apply the foregrounding theory to the translation of the novel Way of the Lawless(excerpt),so that we can see how this theory helps enhance the translation quality.The thesis introduces the origin and development of this theory and its applicability to novel translation.On this basis,it then analyzes the translation of some examples in the novel from the perspectives of quality and quantity,in an effort to make the translation closer to the original text in effect. |
