| After teaching English at Bijie Number 1 Middle School for many years, the author of this paper found that her students in Grade Three still have problems using English attributive clauses in their Compositions although they have learned them when they were in grade 1 and grade 2.As an English teacher, the author found that it is necessary to find out the problems that the students have when learning English attributive clauses, and analyze the reasons of the problems when students are learning and using them,in order that the students can learn the attributive clauses better. This study tried to collect and analyze the problems about English attributive clauses on the Compositions of Students in Grade Three in Senior High School, and divide problems into several types, which include the misuse of predicate verb, avoidance & replacement of attributive clauses, the misuse of relative words and so on.With the guidance of contrastive analysis theory and error analysis theory, the author managed to find that the reasons of the errors are interlingual errors and intralingual errors. To be specific, some errors such as the misuse of predicate verbs, avoidance &replacement of attributive clauses, the lack of relative words, etc.are caused by interlingual transfer(the influence of their mother language,Chinese),while some errors such as the misuse of relative words, the misuse of restrictive attributive clauses and non-restrictive attributive clauses, the misuse of attributive clauses and other clauses are caused by intralingual transfer. On the basis of the study, some suggestions are put forward to improve attributive teaching methods and enhance teaching effect, such as making full use of positive transfer of mother tongue, avoiding negative transfer of mother tongue, increasing the use of attributive clauses in daily classes and strengthening the use of attributive clauses. |
