With the socioeconomic development in China,the living standard of people is now getting better.However,there is always a lack of the spiritual life for them.Actually,this situation will also affect the education,more and more psychological problems occur to primary and middle school students.Especially in the rural areas where social reform and transformation have just undergone,students and their parents’ attitudes towards education become prejudiced because of the impact of Utilitarian view of money in real life and in the network,the impact of different inappropriate comments of “schooling is useless” from we-media.So study is useful or not? What is the meaning of study? And they can make more money by migrant labors or by study? They doubt towards school study.This cognitive environment leads the rural junior high school students to have less learning motivation.More seriously,some of them even hate studying and finally drop out of school.It does no good to the country’s new requirements for training new talents in this new era.During the junior high school,young people will go through the key process of their rapid growth and development;educators should guide and stimulate students’ learning motivation correctly in teaching activities,cultivate students’ learning enthusiasm,and shape a positive and healthy personality as well as the world outlook,view of life and values.Educators have realized that learning motivation is one of the key factors that affect students’ learning.For foreign language learning such as English,to stimulate and cultivate students’ learning motivation,internal factors such as students’ mood,emotions,and personality,and external factors such as society,schools,teachers and strategies should be considered.Due to the lag in economic and policy,rural junior high school students are a group that needs special attention in English education.The aforementioned factors that affect rural middle school students’ English learning motivation should attract their focus.Therefore,finding out the factors that influence the foreign language learning motivation of rural junior high school students and stimulating strategies are of great significance to promoting teachers’ teaching and students’ learning.This paper investigates the current situation of English learning motivation of R Middle School in Hejiang County,Luzhou City,Sichuan Province,and puts forward strategies and suggestions to properly stimulate English learning motivation of rural junior high school students,and also gives some enlightenment for improving the English teaching in rural junior middle school.The research contents of this paper are as follows:(1)what are the overall characteristics of rural junior middle school students’ English learning motivation? What are the differences in English learning motivation among students from different families,different genders,or different academic performances?(2)What are the main factors that affect the English learning motivation of rural junior middle school students?(3)Under the guidance of positive psychology,how should teachers properly guide students to stimulate their English learning motivation to achieve more effective teaching effects? In order to explore the three points,this research uses questionnaire investigation,classroom observation,interviews to conduct questionnaires and descriptive statistics on students’ English learning interest and English learning motivation.Based on the previous questionnaire and interview results,the influencing factors of rural junior high school students’ English learning motivation are summarized as external factors and internal factors for discussion.It’s found that rural junior middle school students are deficient in learning motivation,cognition,learning strategy,positive experience and positive emotion,at the same time,they are deeply affected by external factors such as society,family and school.Positive psychology focuses on people’s positive strength,potential and happy life with people-oriented ideas.It’s of great guiding significance in cultivating rural junior high school students’ English learning enthusiasm and stimulating students’ English learning motivation.Under the guidance of positive psychology,this article proposes some feasible strategies to stimulate English learning motivation of rural junior high school students.In terms of internal motivation,It’s guided by cultivating students’ positive mood and regulating ability during their English learning,deepening students’ positive emotional experience and cultivating students’ positive personality and self-recognition in English learning.In terms of external motivation,the important supplement is to cultivate students’ English learning strategies,carry out active family education,give play to the positive strength of teachers themselves,and carry out career education.Under the guidance of these strategies,teachers will constantly pay attention to the needs of students,improve the enthusiasm of students’ English learning,and make rural junior middle school students learning English more effectively in pleasure during the English classes.
