This paper takes the theme of mother and child painting in Dutch custom painting in 17 th century as the research object,and the painting subject full of affection and affection,mother and son,after entering the Netherlands in 17 th century,will present in front of the public with more secular artistic image.In the 17 th century Dutch custom painters created a large number of custom paintings on the theme of "mother and child" based on the common Dutch family.According to the scenes depicted in the works,the image of "mother and child" was divided into five schemata.These works are eulogy of mother and child living in their daily life,and they are praises of mother’s duty and family virtue,It also conveys the concern and expectation for the healthy growth of children.The theme of mother and son in Dutch custom painting in 17 th century has formed a unique formal language style due to the influence of regional,contemporary and national characteristics,which mainly reflects in the realism expression,unique character image,detail depiction,light color characteristics and so on.In the 17th century,the emergence of a large number of custom painters and works of "mother and son" was followed by the secularization,diversification and commercialization of art works in Holland,and also the external expression of artists’ love for life and home.These works have a profound impact on the realism painting of the later generations,and this eternal theme of painting also continues to develop and change under the brush of later generations artists.
