Study On The Image Of Confucian Figures In The Historical Records

Confucianism and its thought had a profound influence on Sima Qian.On the one hand,Confucianism is the main guiding ideology of the writing of ‘Historical records’;on the other hand,Confucian figures are an important part of the character gallery of ‘Historical records’.In addition to the introduction and conclusion,this paper studies the images of Confucian figures in ‘Historical records’,including three aspects:The first part discusses Sima Qian’s Confucian ideas in ‘Historical records’.First,comb the development of Confucianism in the book,generally including the founding of Confucius,the inherit and spread of his students,the development of Mencius and Xunzi;and during Han dynasty Confucianism established its primacy,thus it can be seen Confucianism occupied the main position in the ‘Historical records’,this is by sima qian’s age background,academic background,sima qian’s writing intention and his personal condition.The second part discusses the image system of Confucian figures in ‘Historical records’.Confucius is the Confucian figure who appears the most frequently in the book,and his main story is in the biography of Confucius.His image is characterized by five aspects,such as being a good teacher for others,being diligent and eager to learn,being brave and fearless,being a scholar and forging ahead in adversity,which is of great model significance to Confucianism.In addition to Confucius,Zi Lu,Zi Gong,Mencius and Xunzi were prominent among the disciples of Confucius in the pre-Qin period.In the early Han Dynasty,a group of Confucians emerged,such as Shusuntong,Li Shiqi,Lu Jia,Gongsun Hong,Yuan Gusheng,Dong Zhongshu,etc.,among which the images of Shusuntong and Gongsun Hong and scholars like Yuan Gusheng and Dong Zhongshu were typical.The system of the image of Confucianism enriches the connotation of Confucianism.The third part,the writing method of Sima Qian’s ‘Historical records’ in shaping the image of Confucian literary style.Sima Qian was able to deeply understand the will of Confucius in writing the Spring and Autumn Annals and the essence of the "Spring and Autumn Annals Writing Method",and inherited and developed the "Spring and Autumn Annals Writing Method",including creating the style of the "Records of the Historic Records",adopting the method of seeing each other,and creating the form of "Taishi Gong Yue" to spread praises,etc.In terms of the narrative technique of shaping Confucian characters,Sima Qian "put the judgment in the preface",and adopted the method of tracing,setting off,embellishing and contrasting.Sima Qian is skilled in language expression,and his expressive techniques are rich and colorful,including rhetorical questions,repeated sentences,exclamatory sentences,etc.He is full of emotion and has a strong artistic appeal.
