A Study On Mathematical Books In Song Dynasty From The Perspective Of Bibliography

Song Dynasty is an important period of the development of mathematics in ancient China,in order to meet the needs of ordinary people in daily life for mathematical calculation,a variety of "Cheng Chu Jie Fa",arithmetic "Ge Jue" and arithmetic "Kou Jue" came into being,practical mathematics works increased significantly.According to statistics,there were at least thirty kinds of practical mathematics works circulated in the Song Dynasty,accounting for about half of the total number of mathematical works at that time.In the face of this new pattern,the traditional practice of placing mathematical books under the calendar literature is no longer appropriate.The bibliographer of the Song Dynasty began to rethink the classification of mathematics books,so that the government and folk catalogues changed the original category of mathematics books.This paper examines the number and classification of mathematics books in the catalogue of Song Dynasty from the perspective of bibliography,aims to reveal the position of mathematics books in the catalogue of the Song Dynasty,and points out what are the favorable and unfavorable factors affecting the development of mathematics in the Song Dynasty society.This article is divided into three parts:The first part describes the background of the development of mathematics in song Dynasty and the composition of mathematics books.The rulers of the Song Dynasty attached great importance to the cause of mathematics,which was rare in ancient society.During Chongning years,the government issued the "Guozijian Suanxue Ling" and the "Guozijian Suanxue Ge",which are important documents in the history of mathematics education.During Daguan years,Emperor Song Hui-zong authorized a ceremony to commemorate ancient arithmetics,so that the status of mathematics reached its peak.The need for calendar revision has given a strong impetus to the development of mathematics.The demand of folk commercial computing has become an important factor in the progress of mathematics.The second part takes the evolution process of mathematics book classification in the catalogue as a clue,collects the comments on mathematics books and mathematics in the catalogue literature,presents the different treatment methods of mathematics books and their advantages and disadvantages in the national collection catalogue,private collection catalogue and other catalogues of the Song Dynasty.The scholars of the Song Dynasty have deepened their understanding of the nature and function of mathematics,so that the works of mathematics can be classified independently,or put into the "Zayi" and "Xiaoxue" categories.On the whole,these practices improve the status of mathematical works,reflecting the independent thinking and insight of scholars in the Song Dynasty.The third part evaluates the number of mathematics books in Song Dynasty and their losses in circulation,and analyzes the conceptual factors and specific reasons that led to their mass loss.In the past,researchers’ understanding of the phenomenon of the loss of ancient Chinese scientific and technological literature remained in the ancient people do not attach importance to science and technology.By combing through the literature about the craft,this paper holds that the concept of "Yi-cheng-er-xia" is the real reason why scientific and technological knowledge and skills have not been valued for a long time.
