Writing is a basic skill in language learning,indicating one’s comprehensive language skills and language abilities.In recent years,more and more people who study English writing focus their attention on teacher feedback.While research on teacher feedback has largely been influenced by second language writing and second language acquisition theory,little attention has been paid to the contextual and cultural-historical dimension of teacher feedback.Activity Theory considers the activity system as the unit of analysis and a collective system.Moreover,Engestrom(1987)put forward the activity system model which includes six elements:subject,object,community,rules,mediated artifacts and division of labor.These elements interact with each other in the activity.Informed by AT,this study attempts to set up a high school EFL writing teacher feedback model.The intention is to explore a practical way for teachers to give students feedback.Therefore,the author conducted a thirteen-weeks experiment in Class 2,Grade 3 of a high school in Jilin,to solve the following questions:1.Does EFL writing teacher feedback model based on AT affect students’ writing?Do EFL students make progress in English writing under the guidance of AT model?2.What are students’opinions and perceptions about the newly established AT model?3.What suggestions and advice to teacher feedback model can be drawn from the experiment results?By doing the research,it is found that(1)The EFL writing teacher feedback AT model is effective.The mean grade has improved from 13.4 to 17.8.Students got complete improvement in writing;(2)In general,86%students were satisfied with the AT model and they are more interested in teacher feedback than before.(3)The EFL writing teacher feedback AT model is beneficial for short-term writing exercise and it is not a settled framework,the teacher can decide which changes in six elements to follow and feel free to arrange the changes and perfect the model.It can maximize the role of feedback in writing teaching and improve students’ writing completely.
