The Review Of Sealing Clay In Han Dynasty And Adeendum Of The Layout Of Qinhan Seal And Sealing Clay

The use of sealing clay began in the Warring States period and was used in large quantities in the Qin dynasty.Due to the difficulty of preserving sealing clay and the emergence of other writing tools,the Han dynasty was at the crossroads of sealing clay use,and the Han dynasty became the heyday of sealing clay use,after which sealing clay went all the way down.Before the twenty-first century,the excavation and research of sealing clay focused on Western Han clay,but after the twenty-first century,the research on Qin clay has surpassed Han clay in terms of heat,breadth and depth,and the research results are richer.By combing the historical overview of Han dynasty clay excavation research,the author found that most of the research on Han dynasty clay before the twenty-first century was based on illustration,and the research direction was focused on official system,history and geography.After the twenty-first century,scholars began to pay attention to the textual body and launched thematic studies on sealing clay.Mr.Zhao Ping-an’s work,the Compilation of Seal and Sealing Clay of the Qin and Han Dynasties(hereinafter referred to as the Compilation),is the largest number of seals and sealing clay before the end of 2017,but the author finds that the section on sealing clay in the Compilation is not comprehensive,and the number of Han dynasty sealing clay included is limited.Based on the comprehensive collection and arrangement of Han dynasty sealing clay materials,the author has made an addendum to the part of the Compilation that deals with Han dynasty sealing clay in order to facilitate further research by scholars.This paper is divided into four parts,namely,the introduction,the upper part,the lower part,and the conclusion.The introduction introduces the research object,the research method,the purpose and significance of the research,as well as the scope and principles of inclusion.The upper part describes the research of Han Dynasty clay in chronological order,while the lower part is the most important part of the dissertation,including four parts,namely,the examples,the addendum to the Compilation,the checklist and the appendix.The concluding remarks summarize the contents of the upper and lower editions and present the highlights and shortcomings of the paper.
