A Report On The Chinese-English Translation Of An Excerpt From Shu Embroidery(Chapter1-5)-A Textbook For The International Course At Chengdu Textile College

Shu Embroidery,a national intangible cultural heritage declared in 2006,has been highly valued in recent years.Chengdu,the capital of Sichuan province,is a famous cultural city with Shu Embroidery as its beautiful business card.Shu Embroidery not only embodies superb skills,but also contains rich cultural connotation of Sichuan.It is a perfect combination of technology and art,as well as the fruition of our culture and technology inheritance of thousands of years.Chengdu Textile College has long been committed to the protection,inheritance,development and innovation of Shu Embroidery.It has unique advantages in regional and industrial background.The Research Center of Shu Embroidery is closely connected with the embroidery industry in Chengdu.There are five chapters in Shu Embroidery :(1)Introduction of the history and the inheritance of Shu Embroidery,including the characteristics of Shu Embroidery and some influential works in modern times;(2)Representatives of contemporary masters of Shu Embroidery and their works;(3)Materials and tools which are needed in making Shu Embroidery as well as the making process;(4)Common patterns of contemporary Shu Embroidery;(5)Innovative designing and application of Shu Embroidery in garment.Shu Embroidery can be a valuable training textbook and a reference book with rich contents and novel pictures.With more and more students who come from countries along the "Belt and Road" coming to Chengdu Textile College to learn the culture of Shu Embroidery,it has brought opportunities for foreign publicity of Shu Embroidery culture,but at the same time,how to teach the foreign students is also facing challenges.In order to better spread the traditional Shu Embroidery culture and meet the needs of learners of different languages,the translator did the Chinese-English translation of the five chapters of Shu Embroidery of Chengdu Textile College.Through this translation practice,the translator believes that the translation of Shu Embroidery should follow the principles of accuracy,conciseness and coherence,and elaborates the problems encountered in the translation practice as well as the corresponding solutions from lexical,syntactic and textual level.The report of the translation practice analyzes the translation skills of typical cases,aiming to provide further help for the translation practice of related subjects.The report of the translation practice consists of five chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,which includes analysis of the background,the original text,the content and the significance of the translation practice.The second chapter is the translation process,which includes three stages: pre translation,in-translation and post translation.The third chapter is the theoretical framework,which elaborates the translation principles in the translation practice.The fourth chapter is the case study,which analyzes the translation strategies and techniques adopted for certain cases.The fifth chapter is the conclusion,which summarizes the experience and results as well as the problems and deficiencies in the translation practice,and the suggestions for Shu Embroidery translation.
