A Study On Committee On Editing And Translation Of Chinese Education And Culture Foundation Board Of Directors(1928-1943)

Committee on Editing and Translation of Chinese Education and Culture Foundation Board of Directors has played a very important role in the modernization of Chinese science education.Committee on Editing and Translation of Chinese Education and Culture Foundation Board of Directors is one of the China Foundation Self-employed Businesses negotiated and established under the compensation of remission of Boxer Rebellion reparations returned by the United States,among them,the Compilation Committee accounts for more than 40%of the self-employed undertakings of the Chinese Foundation.From this case,we can further analyze and think about the common experience,academic contribution and cultural characteristics of the same type of translation agency of the same generation.The overall analysis of this article is based on time:on the one hand,it briefly summarizes the background and process of the establishment of the institution in China;on the other hand,this article discusses and analyzes the practical results of the institution and its modern science education from the perspective of the compilation committee case study,discussing the relationship between the institution and academic culture with the contribution and characteristics of the implementation of academic culture.Before the reorganization of the compilation committee,it mainly existed in the form of the Science Education Advisory Committee of the China Foundation.In order to promote science education methods,assist the education of major schools and ensure the future development of science education,in February 1928.The predecessor of the Science Foundation Compilation Committee "Science Education Advisory Committee"was established in Shanghai.After discussing and deciding at the third annual meeting of the China Foundation,Wang Jin,who returned from studying in the United States,was elected as the chairman of the committee and presided over the important affairs of the committee.Facing the lack of domestic textbooks at that time,during this period,the core task of the association was to compile textbooks such as mathematics,physics,chemistry,biology,and geosciences.When the compilation committee first started,it mainly focused on compiling science textbooks and improving middle school science education and teachers.At that time,the domestic public opinion believed that promoting the compilation of textbooks was the basis for improving domestic science education.Obviously,the China Foundation Committee Compilation Committee promoted the compilation of science textbooks earlier than the vigorous promotion of domestic education professionals.By July 1930,the China Foundation Committee decided to formally reorganize the Science Education Advisory Committee and named it"Compilation Committee".Hu Shih served as the chairman of the committee,and personnel changes resulted in the expansion of the scope of the work of the association,including the translation of famous works of western studies and western literature,history,philosophy and philosophy,and a situation where emphasis was placed on translation rather than compilation.To a certain extent,the compilation of science textbooks has failed to continue to have a positive impact.However,from another perspective,with the translation work of literature,history and philosophy,domestic cultural knowledge can meet with the West,and the vision of the Chinese people can be broadened.Under the leadership of Wang Jin and Hu Shih,the Translation Committee of the China Foundation Committee,this translation agency has developed rapidly,and the organization has gradually become more complete.The staff composition is capable and the results are fruitful.In 1934,the China Foundation Compilation Committee faced the crisis of being abolished,but finally survived in the affirmative voice of the editorial committee that "the benefit of the scholars is not so small." With the outbreak of the All-out War of Resistance,the fate of the Chinese Foundation is also crumbling,which has a great impact on the Compilation Committee,with the consequence that the funding subsidies are increasingly reduced.Due to the fighting,the translation work of the China Foundation Translation Committee was once interrupted by the war.After two migrations,the work basically stopped in 1943.However,it is an indisputable fact that it has made a considerable contribution to the modern Chinese education under the China Foundation Translation Committee.It follows the existing textbooks in the United States to compile textbooks for universities and colleges,and organize translations of Western literature,history,and philosophy.The work of the China Foundation Committee Compilation Committee has inspired people’s thinking,enriched people’s vision,and promoted the development of modern Chinese academics.This shows that the China Foundation for Compilation Committee has promoted Chinese science education into the modernization process.At the same time,it has a profound impact on Chinese modern compiler business.
