| Tarkovsky believes that the film is not an elaboration of ideas,but a reality of direct observation.This kind of reality is essentially a psychological reality,which is consistent with the principle that phenomenology "returns to the thing itself".This consistency is the starting point for us to study Tarkovsky’s films from the perspective of phenomenology.We divide Takovsky’s film space into three categories: body space,perceived external space and experienced subjective space from the perspective of Merleau-Ponty’s theory of phenomenology of perception.The lens is the eye of the film,the recording equipment is the ear of the film,and the actor’s body undertakes the movement of the film.Tarkovsky’s film space achieves visible depth through moving depth-of-field lens,and its sound and image space also has the characteristics of synaesthesia,while the movement of the body and the background of movement are also constantly changing to achieve interactive construction.In Tarkovsky’s films,the outer space perceived by the body interweaves with the body subject,and the outer space is permeated by the structure of the body subject.The earth in natural space is the foundation of space.Water embodies the mobility of space,while fire shows the destruction and regeneration of space.Architecture and homeland are the forms of cultural space.In Tar’s films,homes and temples are the places where the meaning of being live.As a source of spiritual space,the loss of homeland will lead to the separation of the body space and the external space.Tarkovsky’s films have abundant subjective space.Memory,dream and hallucination are three forms of subjective space.Memory space is supported by multiple media,including words,images,bodies and places.Trauma is a kind of physical memory,which makes the body space of the subject closed inward.The dream space in Tarkovsky’s films is always open to reality and has a non-linear poetic logic.The hallucination space reflects the shrinkage of subjective space under the approaching of things.In general,the space of Tarkovsky’s film has three characteristics: introversion,originality and naturalness. |
