For determining difference of planting patterns and varieties on quality and yield of ratooning and late season rice,field experiments were carried out in yongan town of liuyang city in 2019.The planting patterns was the main plot,including ratooning rice,single season and double season late rice.The experimental rice varieties were the split plot,including Huanghuazhan,Tianyouhuazhan,Taiyou 390,Yongyou 4149,Nongxiang 32 and Xiangwanxian 17.The quality and yield under different planting patterns and rice varieties were determined.The results were showed as follows:1、The shortest growth period(60-75d)was recorder in ratoon season of ratooning rice and the longest one(112-126d)was recorded in double season late rice.The growth period of Nongxiang32 was the longest under single season and double season late rice pattern,respectively,while the growth period of Yongyou 4149 was the longest under the ratoon rice pattern.2、Significant differences of rice quality between the three planting patterns.(1)Milling quality: head rice rate of ratooning rice was 16.7% higher than double season late rice.But there was no significant difference in brown rice rate and milling rice rate among the three planting patterns.(2)The appearance quality: the chalky rice rate and chalkiness of single season late rice were lower than ratooning rice and double season late rice,and the rate was significantly lower than double season late rice The chalkiness and chalky rice rate of ratooning rice were between single season and double season late rice.(3)Cooking quality:the amylose content of ratooning season rice was between single season and double season late rice.The amylose content was 3.1% lower than double season late rice,but increased by2.8% than single season late rice.The gel consistency of ratooning rice was 1.9% higher than single season late rice and 3.0% higher than double season late rice,but the difference did not reach a significant level.The amylose content of Tianyouhuazhan was higher,more than20% higher than other varieties.The peak viscosity,hot paste viscosity,breakdown value and final viscosity of tested varieties under ratooning rice and single season late rice planting was higher than double season late rice,cut and gelatinization temperature,gelatinization time lower than double season late rice,ratooning rice RVA spectrum characteristic traits,such as peak viscosity,hot paste viscosity,breakdown,final viscosity,cutting value and gelatinization temperature,gelatinization time between single season and double season late rice.(4)Taste quality: there was no significant difference in the comprehensive taste value,appearance evaluation,taste,hardness and viscosity between ratooning rice and single season late rice.In general,the taste quality of ratooning rice and single season late rice was better than double season late rice.3、There were significant differences in rice quality between tested varieties.The rates of brown rice,milling rice rate and head rice rate of Yongyou 4149 were higher than other varieties,but the chalkiness rate and chalkiness degree were higher.The brown rice rate,milled rice rate and milled rice rate of nongxiang 32 and xiangwanxian 17 were the lowest among the tested varieties,but the appearance quality is good.Cooking and taste quality,the rice of Yongyou 4149 showed better comprehensive edible value,appearance evaluation,taste,hardness and viscosity than other varieties,also,it’s gelatinization temperature is the lowest and it’s thermal viscosity value is the highest.In addition,the gel consistency of Huanghuazhan,Taiyou 390 and Xiangwanxian 17 was higher,reaching more than 90 mm,while Tianyouhuazhan was lower,only reaching 60 mm.The viscosity of Tianyouhuazhan was higher,the disintegration value of Taiyou 390 was the highest,the final viscosity of Tianyouhuazhan was the highest,the cut value and gelatinization time of Taiyou 390 were significantly lower than other five varieties.On the other hand,the quality of different varieties of rice is also poor under different planting patterns,rice quality of Huanghuazhan was the best under single season late rice planting,rice quality of Taiyou390 was the best under double season late rice planting,rice quality of Xiangwanxian17 was the best under ratooning rice planting.4、Significant differences of grain yield were obtained between planting patterns and rice varieties.The grain yield in ratoon season of ratooning rice pattern was lower than single season and double season late rice pattern.The panicle number per unit area in ratoon season of ratooning rice was significantly higher than single season and double season late rice,while spikelets per panicle was significantly lower than the main season rice,single season late rice and double season late rice.The actual yield of Yongyou 4149 was higher than that of other five varieties under the cultivation of ratooning rice,single season late rice and double season late rice.From the perspective of yield composition,the spikelets per panicle and seed setting rate were higher than those of other varieties.In summary,the rice quality of the tested varieties under ratooning rice planting was between single season and double season late rice planting,and the yield was lower than that of single season and double season late rice planting.Huanghuazhan,Taiyou 390 and Xiangwanxian 17 had better rice quality,Yongyou 4149 had high yield.
