The coming of a new century,as domestic and foreign automobile consumption has surged the popularization of China’s port rolling mode of car transport.Specialized automobile terminals have gradually developed into a technically platform for the waterway transportation of commercial vehicles in China.It uses a more systematic and efficient transport process to help China’s commercial vehicles sell at home and abroad.As one of the specialized terminal types,the spatio-temporal differences in throughput of five Chinese specialized automobile terminals are affected by the supply of goods,the consumer market,the transportation network and the terminal’s own facilities.Based on the analysis of the spatial-temporal variation characteristics of specialized automobile terminals throughput in China from 2006 to 2020,we try to explore the key influencing factors that affect the spatial-temporal difference distribution of their throughputs.This study not only supplements the existing research on specialized automobile terminals,but also provides practical reference for rational decision-making of specialized automobile terminals operators and investors,automobile producers and automobile logistics enterprises.This study selects five specialized automobile terminals in Dalian,Tianjin,Shanghai,Wuhan and Guangzhou as the research objects.Firstly,the detailed development history and current situation of these five specialized automobile terminals are introduced.Then,the statistical description and map expression are used to reveal the time-varying characteristics of the total throughput,arrival and departure volume,domestic and foreign trade throughput,import and export volume of these terminals from 2006 to 2020.The throughput spatial characteristics of five terminals in 2007,2013 and 2019 are analyzed.Finally,the grey correlation degree and ridge regression model are used to analyze the main influencing factors of the spatial-temporal distribution differences of the total throughput and throughput of five specialized automobile terminals in China over the past 15 years.The core conclusions are as follows:(1)(1)Temporal characteristics: During the past 15 years,the total throughput of China’s specialized automobile terminals has continued to expand,but the annual growth rate of each terminal is significantly different.The arrival volume and its average annual growth rate gradually exceed the departure volume.The domestic trade throughput and its average annual growth rate far exceed the foreign trade throughput.The import volume and its average annual growth rate far exceed the export volume.(2)Spatial characteristics: In 2007,the throughput of China’s specialized automobile terminals is mainly distributed in Tianjin,Shanghai and Guangzhou automobile terminals,the main transport structure is departure,domestic trade and export.In 2013,the throughput of China’s specialized automobile terminals is mainly distributed in Shanghai,Guangzhou and Tianjin automobile terminals,the main transport structure is arrival,domestic trade and import.In 2019,the throughput of China’s specialized automobile terminals mainly concentrated in Shanghai,Guangzhou,Tianjin and Wuhan automobile terminals,and still dominated by arrival,domestic trade and import.(2)From 2006 to 2020,the main influencing factors of the total throughput of specialized automobile terminals in China are GDP,per capita GDP and 100 family car ownership.The independent analysis of the main influencing factors of spatial-temporal differences in throughput of five specialized automobile terminals shows that: Dalian is affected by wharf yard area,gross output value of automobile industry and car ownership of 100 families.Tianjin is mainly affected by GDP and car ownership of100 households.Shanghai is mainly affected by wharf design capacity,yard area,berth number and car ownership of 100 families.Wuhan is mainly affected by wharf yard area,gross output value of automobile industry and car ownership of 100 families.
