Research On The Application Of Metaphor In The Design Of Daily-use Ceramics

The development of the times makes people have a higher demand for the appreciation and employment of daily-use ceramic products.Nowadays there are some problems in daily porcelain products.For example the functions of products are distorted and catered to and the emotional communication can not be recognized,which hinder the sustainable development of ceramic design.In this thesis,metaphor as a design method is applied to the design of daily-use ceramics.In the theoretical aspect,this work attempts to grasp the general concept of metaphor through the development process of metaphor and the scholars’ researches.On this basis,the concept of metaphor is extended to the field of design,and the operation mechanisms and categories of metaphor in design are sorted out.Secondly,based on the characteristics of daily-use ceramics,the extraction method of metaphorical elements and the expression of metaphor in ceramic shapes,colors,textures and symbols are found out.Finally,looking forward based on the present,this work discusses the value of metaphor to the function,emotion and morality of daily ceramic design,hoping that ceramic products can play a more active role in people’s life.In the practical aspect,this work summarizes the practical steps of metaphor in ceramic design to guide its own practical creation.
