The Impact Of Population Size On China’s Industrial Environmental Pollution

The economy of China has achieved fruitful results under the active guidance of the reform and opening up policy,with the rapid development of the economy,the continuous improvement of the living standards of residents and medical technology,China’s population also has grown from 892 million in 1973 to 1.409 billion in 2018,and the following industrial environmental pollution problems have become more serious.Similar to the “first pollution after governance” road that developed countries have gone through,China is in the stage of attaching importance to controlling environmental pollution.From the perspective of industrial environmental pollution,the analysis of the influencing factors of this problem is particularly important,and there is an important connection between population problems and industrial environmental pollution.Based on the three mechanisms of population size affecting industrial environmental pollution,this paper empirically analyzes the impact of population size on China’s industrial environmental pollution.Based on the 2007-2016 industrial environmental pollution panel data of China’s 110 key environmental protection cities,the result of empirical research using the systematic generalized moment estimation method(GMM)found that the population size has a negative impact on industrial environmental pollution,that is,as the population size expands,the degree of China’s industrial environmental pollution is more serious,and economic growth and industrial environmental pollution are also in line with the environmental Kuznets curve.
