In view of the current large number of carbon steel chips produced by mechanical processing, which will pollute the environment and waste resources, this study used stainless steel plates welded into square shells, coating carbon steel chips for rolling and compounding, and successfully prepared stainless steel / carbon steel scrap composite plates. It solves the problems and shortcomings of high cost and poor thickness uniformity when using stainless steel pipes as coatings in the past, and provides ideas for large-scale solid recovery of carbon steel chips.Combining finite element simulation and experiment, the roll bonding process and properties of carbon steel chips with stainless steel coating were studied.First of all,the stainless steel plate and carbon steel chips materials are processed, the stainless steel plate is welded into a square shell, the carbon steel chips are filled into the stainless steel square shell by a press and compacted, and then sealed after vacuuming. At the same time, the relationship between the density of carbon steel chips and the pressing force was studied, and the selection principle of the density of carbon steel chips when preparing the stainless steel/ carbon steel chips composite plate was obtained. The blank preparation model was established using Marc finite element simulation software. The density distribution and pressing force law of carbon steel chips during pressing were studied, and the simulation results were consistent with the actual.Secondly,a finite element model of stainless steel-coated carbon steel chips rolling was established. The rolling process with different reduction ratios was simulated, and the results of the density distribution cloud diagram of the transverse section, the rolling force of the rolls, the normal stress of the contact interface nodes were extracted, and the rolling results were predicted. After the results were verified by experiments, the reduction rate that should be used to prepare the composite board was obtained.Based on the finite element simulation, the rolling technology of the stainless steel-coated carbon steel chips composite plate was experimentally studied, and multiple sets of different rolling processes were adopted, including cumulative reduction ratio, carbon steel shaving density, rolling temperature, and heat treatment, etc. Finally, through the test of the mechanical properties, the observation and analysis of the morphology and microstructure of the composite plate after rolling,it is concluded that the best rolling process of the composite plate is: the relative density of carbon steel chips in the billet is 70%,with the furnace heating to the rolling temperature 1150 ℃,holding for 30 minutes, the rolling speed is 0.1 m/s,and the reduction rate is 40%,40% and 50%,respectively.The subsequent rolling pass is kept at the same rolling temperature for 10 min,and the annealing heat treatment is carried out after rolling. The carbon steel chips can be fully recovered and utilized, and the stainless steel/carbon steel chips composite plate meeting the national standard can be prepared. The finite element simulation model established in this study can predict part of the experimental results, save the number of tests, and can be applied to different sizes of billets after modifying the parameters. The composite plate made of stainless steel coated carbon steel chips rolling composite technology can not only save the production cost of stainless steel composite plate, but also can recover carbon steel chips in environmental protection.
