Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this project was to write a grant proposal to obtain funding for a 12-week health education program concentrating on nutrition education, structured individualized physical fitness activities, and stress management skills for male and female individuals aged 18 and older who are currently participating in treatment services at Behavioral Health Service (BHS) Redgate Memorial Recovery Center located in Long Beach, California. The literature review was conducted to examine the benefits of physical activity, nutrition and stress management for individuals in treatment. The proposed program's mission is to help participants be better able to achieve a positive lifestyle, protect against a chemically dependent lifestyle and strengthen independence, while preventing relapse. The actual submission or funding of this grant proposal was not a requirement for the successful completion of the project.
