In wireless sensor networks(WSNs),many low-cost sensors are randomly deployed in the monitoring area to monitor and collect environmental data.In the network,the sensor near sink node tends to run out of energy faster than other nodes.Because of the poor monitoring environment,the battery of sensor is difficult to replace and charge.Once battery is exhausted,the connected network will be broken,and the energy hole is caused,which has a serious impact on the network performance.Therefore,in WSNs,extending the network lifetime and improving the energy utilization of sensor nodes has become an important research content.The sink relocation is a mainstream and efficient energy saving method,in which the design of the sink's moving trajectory and the construction of routing path for data transmission are the key.In this paper,we first propose a virtual force based single sink relocation strategy,called VFSR.Because of simple and easy-to-prove characteristics,the virtual force is widely used to improve the coverage of sensor nodes in WSNs,and we apply it novelty in the relocation process of sink,and have achieved very good benefits.Two kinds of virtual forces are constructed in VFSR so that the sink can move autonomously according to the remaining energy and position information of the node,so as to balance the energy consumption among nodes and improve the energy utilization.Simulation results show that the proposed VFSR has superior performance.Secondly,this paper also proposed a virtual force based multi-sinks node relocation strategy,called VFMSR.In VFMSR,we use multiple sinks to greatly reduce the energy consumption of multi-hop communication and improve the network lifetime by reducing average number of hops in the network.At the same time,with the increase of the number of sink nodes,the data carried by nodes can be received in time,so the delay of data transmission is greatly reduced.We have rebuilt three virtual force in VFMSR,and each sink moves autonomously under the combined force.Simulation results show that VFMSR proposed by us has superior performance.
