The rural residential land,as an available land resource,is huge in stock.According to"Strategy Implementation of Potential Exploration of Connotation,Renovation and Redevelopment for Land" proposed in the Guideline of Ministry of Land and Resources Regarding Enhancement of Land Economical and Intensive Use which was issued in 2014,the consolidation of rural collectively-owned construction land has achieved some achievements during the 12th Five-Year Plan period.However,investigations have shown that the vacant land area in rural residential sites has reached up to two million hectares.Deficiencies,such as extensive utilizations,disorder patterns and hollowing-out,remain serious and even become increasingly fierce with continuous advancement of urbanization process in China.Therefore,we have no choice but to explore potentials for the land stock in rural residential sites in a proper and orderly way,optimize land utilization patterns,raise the land utilization efficiency and improve rural living environment,for the purpose of meeting reasonable land utilization demands during the 13th Five-Year Plan period.In this article,Jishan county of Shanxi province was studied.Based on field investigations,the current status for the layout of rural residential sites in Jishan county was deeply analyzed,finding some prominent problems,such as seriously standard exceeding,disperse layout,high vacancy rate and poor habitability.Secondly,in line with the theoretical potential which was worked out by the standard method of per capita construction land regarding the consolidation of rural residential sites in the study area,the index system and weight of potential assessment for the consolidation of rural residential sites were established and determined from perspectives of land utilization,economic level,social development and farmers' intentions.Then,the realistic potential for the consolidation of rural residential sites in the study area was calculated.Thirdly,SPSS22.0 was adopted to conduct a clustering analysis on the realistic potential for the consolidation of rural residential sites in the study area,according to which the study area was divided into first-level potential area,second-level potential area and third-level area.Furthermore,selection orientation for the consolidation modes of rural residential sites in different potential areas including industrial town,agriculural town and town of commerce and trade was intensively discussed.Consequently,countermeasures were put forward to eliminate the factors which would restrict the consolidation of rural residential sites in the study area.
