Torque measurement is widely used in many fields in the development of modern science and technology, such as vehicle, warcraft, aerospace and so on.The conventional methods can't meet the requirements well. For example, the coils type torque sensor, which is based on amorphous alloy ribbon, has many disadvantages of poor fatigue resistance, poor long-term stability, looseness under the high temperature and high humidity conditions. Two new methods using for measuring the torque are presented in this paper which effectively solve the problems caused by alloy ribbons. One detects the magnetic induction intensity, the other measures the induced voltage signal of the planar flexible sensor, instead of using the scheme of sticking alloy ribbon. The methods of non-contact measurement of torque provide a new research direction. The main contents of this paper are as follows:First of all,the theoretical model of the torque sensing system based on magnetic induction is analyzed in detail. The iron-nickel alloy 1J50 is the ferromagnetic material of the elastic shaft. The excitation device motivating magnetic field is designed and the magnetic field is simulated and analyzed. The whole experimental system is established. This paper uses the measurement system to conduct torque experimental research and analyze its performance indicators.Secondly, this paper analyzes the magnetic permeability model of the torque sensing system based on the planar flexible sensor. The material of aluminum alloy 6061-T651 is suitable for the elastic shaft. The planar flexible sensor is designed according to the position of the nickel groove on the surface of the elastic shaft and the spatial resolution. The magnetic field effect is simulated by ANSYS software. The overall setup is constructed to conduct experimental research which determines the optimal working point of the planar flexible sensor. In addition, the torque experimental research and analysis are carried out to obtain the sensitivity, hysteresis error, repeatability error and other indicators. Finally, the performance, experimental indicators, advantages and disadvantages of the two torque sensing systems are summarized. The result of experimental research shows that the two systems are practical for torque measurement and provide a new research direction for torque measurement. In a word, the torque measurement systems satisfy the torque measurement requirements and can be applied to non-contact online torque measurement of warcraft, aerospace and so on.
