All-fiber sensors technology have great application value in oilfield,coal mine,aerospace,military,aviation and other fields with their unique advantages.Side polishing technology on fibers is an important method and means for processing fiber optic sensors.The quality of the fiber optic sensors depends directly on the quality of the polishing system.Therefore,it is of great practical significance to research the fiber side polishing technology.This paper designs fiber-side polishing system based on the wheel polishing method.The microstructured optical fiber sensor is polished by this system,and the refractive index sensing experiment is performed on the polished fiber sensor.The main contents are listed below:Firstly,on the basis of reading a large number of domestic and international references,the domestic and international status and technical points of optical fiber polishing technology are reviewed.On this basis,the design scheme of optical fiber side polishing machine based on wheel polishing method is proposed.The related theories involved in fiber polishing systems are discussed.Secondly,according to the actual engineering requirements,the hardware system of the fiber polishing system is designed,including mechanical structure design and electronic control system design.The machining design of the prototype model of the polishing machine system is realized.Then,the electronic control system software is designed based on RT-Thread real-time operating system to ensure the real-time and high efficiency of the polishing system.The GUI control interface based on emwin graphics library is designed to realize friendly human-computer interaction.Finally,the polishing system was experimentally verified according to the design function,and the polishing system was used to perform the fiber polishing experiment.The single-sided and double-sided polished fiber refractive index sensors were processed separately,and the sensing characteristics of the polished micromachined fibers were studied through experimental research.
