Microwave phase shifters are fundamental components for microwave signal processing systems,such as phased-array beamforming networks for radar and satellite communication.However,to overcome electrical bottleneck,microwave photonic phase shifters are adopted due to advantages of immunity to electromagnetic interference,large operation bandwidth and flexible tunability.In addition,in order to obtain high operational frequency and phase tunability,a feasible way is to implement frequency doubling and phase shifting in optical domain simultaneously.First,after explaining the background of microwave photonics and technical characteristics of the phased-array antennas in detail,including the research of frequency-multiplying microwave photonic phase shifter is introduced.The dissertation studies the technology of photonic RF phase shifter based on optical true time delay(OTTD),vector sum,heterodyne mixing,and the technology of microwave optical generation based on external modulator method,double wavelength laser,optical heterodyne method,respectively,including their working principle,advantages and disadvantages,and technical solutionsSecondly,A frequency-doubling microwave photonic phase shifter based on polarization modulation is proposed according to the requirements of phase shift and generation of high frequency signal.It can be seen from the theoretical derivation and VPI system simulation that this structure not only can obtain frequency-doubling microwave signals,but this structure can realize a range of phase shift greater than360 degree and little amplitude fluctuation using convenient adjustment.Finally,A Frequency-quadrupling Microwave Photonic Phase Shifter based on Dual-polarization MZM which combines the performance requirement of the large bandwidth applications is also proposed,and in order to avoid the optical or electrical devices with filtering function and optimize the frequency tunability and multi-wavelength compatibility of the system,the optimized microwave photonic phase shifter system is introduced and analyzed especially.It is concluded that the system with refined structure and simple principle will get its deeper practical application value in the corresponding field in the future.
