A Study On The History Of Explosives And Powders In Shanxi-chahaer-hebei Base Area During The Anti-Japaneses War (1937-1945)

The evolution of propellants and explosives played a vitally important role in winning the victory of the Anti-Japanese War.As the first revolutionary base area behind enemy lines,Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Anti-Japanese Base Area was the place where our army firstly developed propellants and explosives.In the smoky and afflicted Anti-Japanese War,the munitions industry in the area was increasingly developed and strengthened from scratch by the Eighth Route Army under the leadership of the Communist Party of China(CPC).It was not only an important source of munitions for our army,but also a component of the people’s armed forces.Based on historical data and textual research,case study and combination of internal and external historical studies,the paper has delved into the history of the ordnance factories and the evolution of propellants and explosives in the military industry of Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Anti-Japanese Base Area.By collecting and sorting out historical data,using propellant and explosive manufacturing technology as an entry point,research has been conducted in respect of technological development,product manufacturing,organization and production management,and personnel training.The military industry and propellants and explosives in Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Base Area grew in three historical phases: centering on gun repairing,and recruiting personnel and building factories;integrating resources and overcoming technological difficulties;and hierarchic management and scale production.The framework of the Base Area’s history of propellant and explosive development is teased out from a macroscopic view.Firstly,the breakthrough and innovation points of the main technologies and products as well as production scale are summarized.Secondly,the internal structure of propellant and explosive production management is explored at the level of industrial organization and management in order to master the rules as well as the personnel allocation for supporting the mission.Thirdly,the challenges arising in the development and production of propellants and explosives,including poor infrastructure,shortage of raw materials and scarcity of professionals are analyzed and summarized through empirical analysis.In the end,by drawing upon historical experiences,the paper concludes that we shall,under the core leadership of the central committee of CPC,respect knowledge and intellectuals,carry forward the spirit of elder military industrial pioneers,enlighten the descendants to take an active part in the overall innovation of technological development and to inherit the elder generation ’s spirit of fearing no hardship and sacrifice,working selflessly and striving for success.The spirit has been lasting since the foundation of the PRC and has become the red inheritance in China’s significantinnovations of national defense science and technology.To realize the Army goal of the Party in new situation and to build the world-class military.
