As the opening chapter of the analects of Confucius, the chapter of "Xue Er Shi Xi Zhi" has numerous historical annotations, which are still controversial. Therefore,We need to continue to explore the interpretaion of this motto. In this paper, the three sentences of the chapter of "Xue Er Shi Xi Zhi" are divided into three parts,From the perspective of etymology, the historical context and textual context of the pre-qin period are combined to reinterpret it.Chapter 1 firstly sorts out two ways of understanding the logical relation of the chapter "Xue Er Shi Xi Zhi".A train of thought believes that there has no logical relationship between the three sentences.More scholars argue that the chapter of "Xue Er Shi Xi Zhi" has a chose logical connection and a coherent meaning. In the author’s opinion, the chapter of "Xue Er Shi Xi Zhi" is a progressive and consistent. However, the predecessors have different interpretations and we are not satisfied with it.Therefore, the author intends to rediscuss the chapter of "Xue Er Shi Xi Zhi" in order to get an accurate understanding. The second chapter analyzes scholars’ different interpretations of " Xue Er Shi Xi Zhi,Bu Yi Shuo Hu?".To study the meaning of a word from the perspective of etymology,The word "Xue" means to learn,"Xi" means to practice, and "Shuo" means to speak. So,The meaning of " Xue Er Shi Xi Zhi,Bu Yi Shuo Hu?" is "Learn and then practice from time to time, can’t you say it to others? " In order to verify the above explanation, the author analyzes the meanings of these words in the analects of Confucius and Zuo Zhuan. The word "Shuo" embodies the learning method of the gentleman to communicate with others, which leads to the discussion of the pleasure of friends in the third chapter. The third chapter is titled "Peng Lai Zhi Le,Suo Le He Shi?" The mainunderstanding of Peng Lai’s joy is friends ’long-distance pleasure, friends’ learning pleasure, and education’s pleasure. The author believes that "Peng" refers to a friend who has good conduct and like-mindedness."Has a friend come from afar, wouldn’t it be fun?" In the context of modern Chinese,it can be interpreted as follows: "A friend who has good conduct and like-mindedness comes from afar, and I am not happy to discuss and exchange learning together? " The thing that I am happy about is the joy of my friends to talk about learning, which is reflected in " The Analects of Confucius ","Book of Rites " and " Book of Changes ".The fourth chapter discusses "Ren Bu Zhi Er Bu Yun,BuYi Jun Zi Hu?" This sentence is translated as "Even if my friend doesn’t understand what I say,I’m not angry.Isn’t this a gentleman?" The embodiment of gentleman’s virtue cultivation. The fifth chapter summarizes the previous analysis. The chapter of "Xue Er Shi Xi Zhi" is understood as follows: Learned, then often practice, can not say to others to listen to it? Isn’t it a pleasure to have friends of good character and congenial interests come from afar to communicate and study with me? Even if I say the friend does not know,I am not angry,is this not a gentleman?"With the concentration of the whole chapter,Confucius emphasizes learning practice, the method of learning to communicate with friends, the joy of learning, and the unpretentious tolerance of Confucius. The propositions are closely related. The practice, communication, happiness, and tolerance of the ceremony are the embodiment of doing benevolence and realizing benevolence. In the end,the author briefly outlined the influence of Confucius’ thought of learning in the chapter of "Xue Er Shi Xi Zhi" In the development of Chinese philosophy,"Xunzi·QuanXue" systematically discussed the thought of gentleman’s.Later,"Li Ji·Xue Ji","DaXue" Neo-Confucianism and Philosophy of Heart have a rich discussion on the GongFu of Learning and ideal personality.,which all started in the Pre-Qin period, are the development of Confucius’ thought.
