Research On The Word Formation Of The Compound Word In Yushan Dialect

Yushan dialect belongs to Shangshan（上山小片）within Shangli（上丽片）of Wu dialect,which retains rich features of Wu dialect.On the basis of the investigation,this paper makes a comprehensive description on the word-formation of the compound word in Yushan dialect from three aspects,including additional type,compound type and overlapping type.We only make the necessary analysis of the parts which are not quite different from Mandarin,but researches the content with significant features of Yushan dialect in detail,and have a discussion on the special phenomena and adjective suffixes of Yushan dialect.The basic features of the word-formation of the compound word in Yushan dialect are as follows.Firstly,the number of affixes is lagre,and most of them have dialect characteristics.Secondly,Compound type has five types of structure,within which the B2B1 A adjective replicates the word-forming pattern of BA and the characteristics of them are significant.Thirdly,there are three overlapping types,inculding simple type,extended type and affixed type.Among them,the characteristics of thoes three syllable words formed by extended type and affixed type are more prominent,including ABB type,B1B2 A and AAB type.Besides,AAB is divided into "AA□[（?）²⁴]" and " AA□[xi⁵⁵]",and "AA□[（?）²⁴]" is the form of overlapping type that makes words at most.Yushan dialect word-formation also embodies a certain characteristics of Wu,for example,many compound words reflect the inheritance of ancient Chinese,and there are many commonalities between B2B1 A and ABB adjectives from Yushan dialects and the adjectives from other dialects of Wu.In Yushan dialect,the " AA□[（?）²⁴]" adjectives and many of polarized BA and B2B1 A adjectives are synonymous,and is the type of overlapping types with the largest amount.We think the reasons for this phenomenon from a cognitive point of view are as follows.Thirdly,under the action of the method of category and the principle of and language economy,BA,B2B1 A adjectives have produced synonymous " AA□[（?）²⁴]" adjectives,and secondly,from the perspective of cognitive psychology,the " AA□[（?）²⁴]" is at the bottom of the conceptual hierarchy system.In addition,the previous papers considered that the adjective suffixes of Yushan dialect were "儿" and "起",while we think there should be "尔" and "兮".
