The Study On The Prohibition Of The Novels Of Daoguang Dynasty

The prohibition and destruction of novels is a unique cultural phenomenon in the history of ancient Chinese culture,and the reason is different in the past dynasties.As an important part of banned novels,the prohibition and destruction of novels in Daoguang Dynasty is closely related to that of in Qing Dynasty,in the meantime,it is unique.The paper takes the prohibition and destruction of Daoguang Dynasty novels as the research object,probes into the reasons and changes through comparative analysis and case study,combining with the banned novels in Qing Dynasty.We will try to make an objective evaluation of the phenomenon of prohibition and destruction of Daoguang Dynasty novels,and it is of great significance for us to have a comprehensive understanding of it in Daoguang Dynasty and even in the whole late Qing Dynasty.This paper focuses on the phenomenon of the prohibition and destruction of Daoguang Dynasty novels,divided into five chapters.Chapter one divides the prohibition and destruction of novels in Qing Dynasty into four stages and analyzes the characteristics in different stages.The second chapter mainly carries on the quantity statistics and subject classification of the banned novels,and analyze the reasons of prohibition and destruction from three aspects,respectively is: religion and bandits perplexing,renaissance of neo-confucianism and custom regulating.The third chapter summarizes the whole situation of the prohibition and destruction of Daoguang Dynasty novels,mainly from the participants,regionalism,and Yu Qian’s governance in Jiangsu to explore the characteristics of the prohibition and destruction in Daoguang Dynasty.The fourth chapter focuses on the forbidden and destroyed novels,analyzes the theme and writing characteristics,and summarizes the literary ideas embodied in them.The fifth chapter mainly investigates the impact of prohibition and destruction on the creation and dissemination of novels.Through the analysis and research of the above chapters,this paper tries to explain the truth of the prohibition and destruction of novels,guiding readers to view the phenomenon of prohibition and destruction of novels in perspective,and give an objective and reasonable historical positioning to the prohibition and destruction of novels.
