The Discourse On Zhu Shiduan’s Shuowen Research

Zhu Shiduan was taught by Zhu Bin when he was a child,and later discussed with Wang Niansun and Wang Yinzhi on academic issues.When he was older,Zhu Shiduan was deeply interested in The study of Chinese traditional classics,especially on Shuo Wen(说文).This paper takes Zhu Shiduan’s four books of ShuoWen(说文)as the research object,and discusses the research results of Zhu Shiduan’s ShuoWen(说文)research from four perspectives of"collation","interpretation","application"and"evaluation".The first chapter is the introduction.This chapter gives a brief introduction to Zhu Shiduan’s life and writings,explains the research status and significance of the topic,and describes the research methods adopted in this paper.The second chapter is the collation and investigation of the revision of ShuoWen(说文)by Zhu Shiduan.This chapter first introduces the interpretation method of Shuo Wen Jiao Ding Ben(说文校订本),and then makes a textual research on the collating content of Shuo Wen Jiao Ding Ben(说文校订本)from the perspectives of picture-sound character,reading character,glyph and interpretation,so as to expound Zhu Shiduans exploration of the original revision of ShuoWen(说文).The third chapter is about Zhu Shiduan’s research on ShuoWen(说文),which is based on the ancient phonetic research achievements of previous scholars.This chapter discusses the basis and method of Zhu Shiduan’s study on Shuo Wen XieSheng Ju Yao(说文谐声举要)and Shuo Wen Xing Sheng Shu Zheng(说文形声疏证),summarizes the main contents of these two books,and makes a new demonstration of Zhu Shiduan’s judgment by combining with the research results of ancient phonetics.The fourth chapter is about Zhu Shiduan’s application to ShuoWen(说文).This chapter discusses the exegetical perspective of Zhu Shiduan’s study of ShuoWen(说文)from the perspective of exegetical regulations,the exegetical interpretation of calligraphy,and the interpretation of ancient Chinese classics.The fifth chapter is the evaluation of Zhu Shiduan’s study of ShuoWen(说文).Zhu shiduan attached great importance to the ancient phonetics and the application of ancient Chinese materials,but there were also improper quotations and disproofs in his writings.The last part is the conclusion.On the basis of a comprehensive study of Zhu Shiduan’s writings on ShuoWen(说文),the author fully recognizes his achievements and shortcomings,and tries to make an objective evaluation of his studies on ShuoWen(说文)in combination with the academic background at that time.
