With the increase in domestic policy support for the documentary industry,gourmet documentaries have begun to show a booming trend.Especially after the hit of "China on the Tip of a Tongue",documentaries on food began to flourish.As a typical work that has received a lot of attention in recent years," Once Upon a Bite" has won the favor of the audience since its premiere.Twelve hours after the first episode of " Once Upon a Bite "was launched,it achieved 140 million views and a Douban score of 9.1.This research takes " Once Upon a Bite " as the research object,and takes ritualized communication as the theoretical basis.From the content presentation,ritual characterization and ritual communication of this documentary,this article explores how "Once Upon a Bite " uses ritualized communication mechanisms to show the program.Create a boutique and make an impact.On this basis,this study also analyzes the ritualized communication of " Once Upon a Bite ",aiming to further reveal the cultural value of gourmet documentaries,and then discuss its future development direction.This article mainly expounds from four parts:The first part summarizes the development and evolution of gourmet documentaries,divides their development stages into germination,development,and maturity periods,summarizes the background and content of the documentary " Once Upon a Bite ",and analyzes the program features of "Once Upon a Bite ".The second part focuses on the analysis of the scenes,symbols,and main rituals of "Once Upon a Bite ".This study found that the show scenes are mainly displayed in three aspects:urban,rural,and overseas,and the use of different scenes to transform the "eat" of the fruit belly into "cuisine" with cultural significance;the symbols are aided by pictures,sounds,and language.In three aspects,attract the attention of the audience and project the audience’s emotions into the documentary;the main body of the ceremony consists of the main character of the story,the photographer of the story,and the audience,and turns the stories that belong to individual memories into collective memories.The third part mainly discusses the ritualized spreading process of " Once Upon a Bite".In the process of dissemination,folk rituals carry the audience’s memories of their loved ones and past life customs.Through repeated presentations of scenes such as reunion and ancestor worship,they awaken the audience’s emotions in the past during the ceremony;in addition,they deliberately choose the time and place To isolate the internal and external real life of the documentary,and create a unique value for the well-built internal life of the documentary;for the audience,in the ritualized communication process,participate in the communication ceremony through a variety of online and offline methods,finally merged into groups and sought identity and existence among different groups.The fourth part puts forward the cultural significance brought about by ritualized communication on the basis of analyzing the ritualized communication mechanism of "Once Upon a Bite ".This article believes that the ritualization of communication activities not only enables the content of communication to be extended in space,but also extended in the dimension of time.Homesickness,reunion and hard work are memories that are rooted in different groups of the Chinese nation.The collective memories belonging to different groups are awakened in the form of documentaries.Based on shared memories,the cultural appeal is formed.Through the recognition of food culture,traditional culture and regional culture,the purpose of maintaining groups and society is achieved.
