| The translation report is done based on the translation of the book The World Is Our Classroom written by an American writer Cindy Ross.Centering on the heated topic of education, the book shows target readers the way how the author and her husband educate their children by taking domestic and international travels and natural adventures, which aims at expressing the important role outdoor activities play in raising children. Two chapters were excerpted from the book and translated, which mainly introduce the significance of natural plays and international travels. The book is characterized by the features of expressive text and vocative text, and its language is simple, natural and easy to understand.Due to the difference between English and Chinese culture, there are still some obstacles for the Chinese readers to understand the target text if the source text is literally translated. Therefore some compensation strategies like, annotation, shift of perspective and other methods were employed to make up for the losses caused in the translation at cultural and semantic level. The report consists of five chapters, the first chapter makes an introduction to the background, task description and significance and structure of the translation report. The second part describes translation preparation, preliminary translation and post-translation.The third part introduces the studies and researches on translation compensation and its necessity. The forth chapter is case analysis, which is discussed from cultural dimension and semantic dimension, and illustrates the difficulties encountered in the translation process and solutions to these difficulties. The last part draws a conclusion, including the findings and limitations. |
