Resentiment And It’s Redemption

This paper attempts to study Nietzsche’s theory of resentment on the basis of three books: On the Pedigree of Morality,Will to Power and Zarathustra’s Statement." On the Pedigree of Morality" tells the origin,connotation and value creation of resentment.However,the complicated relationship between the " superman" thought,the " will to power" and the theory of eternal return in " will to power" and " said Zarathustra" is the way to redeem resentment.Resentment is not a simple emotion,but a state of being hurt but unable to be released,full of revenge but unable to wait and see.Nietzsche believes that resentment originates from slave morality,which is an illusion revenge formed by slaves when they are injured from outside,and the root cause of resentment is the will’s aversion to " was".People full of resentment have no way to vent outward,but can only turn their human instinct and resentment to the inside,suffering from self-torture.However,Christianity took the opportunity to link this self-inflicted pain with debt consciousness,making people mistake the instinctive impulse pain suffered by human beings for default on God’s debt,which should be punished to alleviate the sin.This also led to asceticism.With asceticism,the original unrestrained life instinct is turned to man himself,making man deny life and have no will.The non-purposefulness of the present world is also a kind of nihility,so Nietzsche put forward the concept of " generation" and constructed a world of will to power.And the will to pursue strength is what Nietzsche called " overman".The world of the will to power will return forever.Overman will create the " present moment" under the will to power.The will to power will affirm all this.Therefore,when creating this moment,the affirmation of this moment represents the affirmation of the past and the future at the same time.The aversion to " was" is also purified and innocent in this repeated return.Eternal return enables resentment to be redeemed and life to show its natural beauty.
