China has prospered and fared well since it implemented the reform and opening-up policy, the interpretation and translation industry thus embraced unchartered golden times. However, due to the lack of attention paid to the ethics of interpretation in the authentic interpretation test, and the vacuum of professional ethics teaching in the curriculum of professional interpretation colleges, true competent interpreters are in short supply. To tackle the above-mentioned paradox, the Graduate School of Translation and Interpretation of Beijing Foreign Studies University initiated the course of "Interpreting Profession and Interpreter Ethics" in the fall semester of 2018(September).The course covered theoretical introduction, real scenario case-study,group presentation and paper-writing.This thesis is an ethnography research focusing on the course. The author participated in the course as a teaching assistant, and drew the following conclusions through vairious types of field research:1)The course provides students with a realistic view of the interpreting career, giving students a systematic and correct understanding of the profession, allowing students to realize the importance of professional ethics in interpretation.2)After the course, students can basically grasp the principles of dealing with various ethical issues in different scenarios.3)The team-teaching pattern is well-accepted by students;while most students suggested that group presentation section can be reduced/adjusted.4)Students generally recommend that it is best to master basic interpreting studies or practical experience before taking this course. The main contributions of this research are as follows:1)Enriching the application of ethnography in the field of interpretation teaching.2)Provide suggestions and opinions based on the student’s actual feedback for the improvement of the course.
