| Chuang Tzu is an important representative of Taoism during the pre-Qin period and self-theory is an important part of his philosophy. At present,self-theory is one of the important topics of Chuang Tzu in academic circles,it has achieved fruitful results, but still needs further exploration and demonstration.Based on the previous research, this thesis will be discussed from the perspectives of ontology, epistemology and value theory, then expound the contemporary significance and value of Chuang Tzu’s self-theory.First of all,it is necessary to further explore the metaphysical basis of self in Chuang Tzu’s philosophy. It’s constitutes the ontological basis of Chuang Tzu’s that existence of the Tao and the self attainment of the heavens, etc.“Wu have lost Wo” is the core of Chuang Tzu’s self-theory,“Wo” is the self with conscience in reality.“Wu” is the ultimate existence of self. The self that emerges from the bondage of the world and the consciousness of the dream is the real subject of cognition.Heart, mind, and passion connect the phenomenal world with the ontological world, these realizations are self representation in the ontological sense.Secondly,in Chuang Tzu’s spiritual world, what he pursues is a true self who has a clear understanding of the present world and himself. In other words, only by abandoning the knowing knowledge and sages of the doctors in order to achieve the unification of heaven and human things. This is through self examination through "heart fasting" and "sit forgetting" methods. It’s a thoroughgoing self fulfillment of "absolutely abandoning knowledge" and finally getting rid of the plight of language and knowledge. Finally, the true self that Chuang Tzu wants to achieve isn’t an abstract speculative logical reasoning, but it’s to be displayed in the objective living world. The realization of self is to open up the soul and solve the worries of the present world, free from the constraints of life and death, survival, and fame and fortune, and the detachment and self reliance of life reach the value of self in the world by means of avoiding disasters to preserve themselves. In conclusion, although Chuang Tzu pursues the natural and mysterious environment of Taoism, however the direction of thinking has always been centered on self.In Chuang Tzu’s view, because of the interference of the conscience, the secular people are unable to spontaneously present the true self. Therefore if you want to settle down in the world,it’s inseparable from the "substantial" approach to the body, thus uniting with the heavens and living harmoniously with others to achieve a perfect life with goodness and beauty. |
